Comrade Helen Nelson graduated from Campbell University, Buies Creek, NC, earning a Bachelor of Health Science Degree. She received her Master’s of Science Degree in Administration from Liberty University, Lynchburg, VA. Comrade Nelson is a Human Resource Manager and Licensed Practical Nurse in the State of Florida and North Carolina. 
 
Her military training includes Human Resources Course and Management Development Course; Middle Managers Course; Supervisor Development Course; Finance Management Course; Warrior Leadership Course; Senior Leadership Course; FEMA / Emergency Medical Services Certified; Defense Readiness Reporting System Unit Status Report Certified, JPAS Managers and Security Course and AMEDD Officer Basic Course.

She is married to Joe L. Nelson of New Bern, NC; they have a blended family of six children Robert, Jasmine, Rosie, Tisheena, Mackenzie and Joci, and have 8 grandchildren.
