CHAPLAIN OF THE YEAR

North Carolina Richard Rice Chaplain of the Year

Purpose:

To Honor Post and District Chaplains for their commitment and service to our veterans. The nominated chaplain should have exemplary character such as integrity, professional execution of duties, dependability, punctuality, timely submission of reports, etc. Nominations can be made by any Post or District Officer.


Criteria:

  • A member of the VFW in good standing with the Post, District, and Department.
  • Must be serving or have served as either Post or District Chaplain during the election year in which nominated for the award.
  • Should show a positive impact on veterans in the community and for contributing to furthering the goals of the VFW.

Details:

  • Include a list of accomplishments and/or community events participated in (i.e. volunteering for community, hospital visits, nursing home visits, etc.)
  • Tell why you feel the Chaplain should be honored.
  • The nomination package should be no more than 2 pages that include nominee’s name, position, cap size, type cap preferred male or female and phone number.
  • Department judges will be the Department Chaplain and 2 Past Department Commanders.
  • The Chaplain selected by the judges will be notified by the Department Chaplain and announced at the Department Convention Awards Banquet.

How to Submit:

  • Nominations must be submitted to the Department Chaplain no later than April 15th.
