VICTOR R. LETOURNEAUT (Gold Legacy Member)


VFW Post 9960, Cedar Point North Carolina, served 3x as Post Commander.  Served as District 4 Commander 2x and Held the following Position as State Level> Inspector and Judge Advocate.


Served 20 years in the United States Marine Corps and retired 2005 as a Master Sergeant. He was born in Guantanamo, Cuba on January 7, 1967.  He graduated from Mount Saint Michael Academy, Bronx, New York in May 1985.  MSgt Letourneaut joined the United States Marine Corps and attended basic training, MCRD, Parris Island South Carolina on 7 November 1985.  In April 1986 MSgt Letourneaut was assigned to 2nd Battalion 9th Marines for duty as a Mortarman. MSgt Letourneaut then deployed for two six-month deployments to Japan in 1986 and 1988 as well as attending jungle Operation Training School in Panama.  In November 1990, MSgt Letourneaut deployed to Southwest Asia and participated in operation Desert Shield and Desert Storm.  Upon return MSgt Letourneaut in July 1992 reported to DI School, Parris Island, South Carolina. MSgt Letourneaut was assigned Company D, 1st Battalion.  On his tour he trained six platoons and over 300 recruits and two cycles as a Senior Drill Instructor.  In January 1995, MSgt Letourneaut reported to 1st Battalion 8th Marines, Camp Lejeune, North Carolina.  During his duty MSgt held many billets to include Platoon Sergeant, Platoon Commander and Company Gunnery Sergeant.  In November 1996 MSgt Letourneaut deployed with 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit for a six-month deployment to the Mediterranean Sea.  In April 1997 MSgt Letourneaut participated in a Non Combatant Evacuation of American Embassy Tirana, Albania.  This task involved the processing of about 1000 evacuees while providing security for the embassy.  In a matter of 10 days MSgt Letourneaut found himself sailing out of the Mediterranean Sea destined to Africa, which involved setting up operations to evacuate American Citizen out of Kinshasa, Zaire.  In May 1997 MSgt Letourneaut returned from deployment to Camp Lejeune.  In July MSgt Letourneaut deployed to the Republic of Panama as part of a company reactionary force to the US Embassy Panama until December 1997.  In March 1998, MSgt Letourneaut reported to 2nd Battalion 8th Marines as a Platoon Commander for 3rd Platoon Company B.  In June 1998 MSgt deployed to South Korea, and trained with the Korean Marines.  Upon returning from deployment MSgt Letourneaut reported and graduated Marine Security Guard School. MSgt Letourneaut served in Damascus, Syria and Manama, Bahrain. April 2001, MSgt Letourneaut reported to School of Infantry.  MSgt Letourneaut was assigned as the Operations Chief for Infantry Training Battalion.  In March 2004 though March 2005, MSgt Letourneaut deployed to Iraqi in Support of Operation Iraqi Freedom as the Senior Enlisted Advisor and assisted the 1st Iraqi Army Division and 1st Iraqi Army Mechanized Brigade becoming Mission Operation Capable. Upon return from Iraq, MSgt Letourneaut was assigned as the Academic Chief and Anti-Terrorism Officer for the School of Infantry.  MSgt Letourneaut is married to the former Michele Calero, they one daughter, Nichole Letourneaut Florez and 2 Grand Children Damon and Ronan and Son-Law Matthew Florez (Sgt USMC Ret). Holds a Bachelor of Science Degree from Campbell University.  Veteran Small Business Owner/President of Up-Side Management Company.
