Hurricane Update
To All,

Here is the plan with how to get the supplies into the affected areas based on the meeting at HQ today. The logistic of transportation (trailers and what not) still need to be worked out in some cases but here is the plan:

Indian Trail and Rockingham Post supplies will move to the Wilmington Post which will act as a distribution point. HWY 17 from Myrtle Beach to Wilmington is open according to the Post Commander of Wilmington. The Wilmington Post still does not have power but their hall is fine and can be secured.

Sanford Post supplies will move into Spring Lake 4542 and or 6018 Fayetteville where those two Posts will be distribution points for that area.

Clemmons and Cary Post future supplies (they shipped to Sanford already with first load) will go to the Kinston Post. Russ Chambers has said that he could probably swing by Cary to pick up goods on his trip from Clemmons assuming there is room.

Once we can move into more areas, the Wallace Post (and others) will start to take some supplies as well which seems to be right in the geographical center of the affected areas for the most part.

Addresses for these distribution points are:

Post 2573
2722 Carolina Beach Rd.
Wilmington, NC 28412
POC Scott Wallace 757-348-4699

Post 4542
1241 Pine Knoll Dr.
Spring Lake, NC 28390
POC Josh Holt 443-309-7322

Post 6018
116 Chance St.
Fayetteville, NC 28301
POC Helen Nelson 910-574-4681

Post 2771 (American Legion Post 43)
300 N McLewean St.
Kinston, NC 28501
POC Tab Brown 252-933-2040

Most of these Posts are basically on the outskirts of the storm area and are positioned around the perimeter. As I mentioned above, once we can start moving trucks into more areas, we will look at Wallace and other Posts in the area that would be our middle distribution points.

It's still not a perfect setup, however, it is positioning the supplies so we can help some localized folks in need there and once we get the OK, for movement into the affected areas.

VFW Relief teams signed for their money and picked up relief forms today and will begin moving into areas to start financial assistance as soon as tomorrow in some areas. There will be a $200 limit right now, anything more will need approval from the State Commander.

Team Rubicon currently has people in Wilmington.

That is it for updates right now, we will continue to keep everyone posted as we continue to learn more.

As yesterday's defenders of freedom, we want to welcome today's military service members into our ranks to become part of our elite group. Our common bond is the battlefield, whether it is service in the Persian Gulf, Korea, Kosovo, the war on terrorism or peace-keeping expeditionary campaigns. Your courage and sacrifice have made a difference in preserving and defending world peace.
